Set Up Your Home Workout Space in 3 Easy Steps

If we know where we’re working out, then we’re more likely to commit and show up! It’s all about eliminating the distractions and excuses and creating a space in our home we love being in and that inspired us to workout!

1) Decide now where in your home you’re going to workout - make sure the door can be closed, maybe even locked and you could even make a simple ‘do not disturb’ sign to place on the door before you follow a class.

2) Think about the sensory experience in your space - what you see, hear, touch and most importantly smell! I absolutely love lighting a candle before my practice, whether it’s Yoga or Barre it just instantly make me feel calmer and more prepared! Think about the colors in the room and how it makes you feel. Is the space a little cluttered? Could you make more room? Could you even create a little alter with your sage or palo santo candle and vision board?

3) Make sure everything is out and ready to go and keep your things in that space at all times, don’t move your mat / bala bangles around the place. Make a home for them in your chosen room and keep them there! Could you even have a little rail where you keep your workout clothes there, so even changing isn’t an issue?

Things that are handy to have in your workout space;

1) A Yoga Mat

2) A candle, sage, palo santo and lighter or matches

3) A journal to track your progress or just to write 5 things you’re grateful for after your practice

4) Your workout clothes

5) Bala bangles or any other weights you like to use

6) A charged and ready to go ipad / laptop / phone

7) Plants are always a nice touch - this is a space where you nourish yourself, so it’s always a nice omen to nourish something else in the space whilst you’re at it!
